Dear DCEA
I wanted to personally update you on the use of the donated cameras for this school year. This year's residency with the artist would not have been successful without the support that we received from the Darke County Endowment for the Arts. I can proudly say that we currently have a photography class and were able to offer an actual class due to the support from your organization. The students are enjoying the use of the cameras and it has made a huge impact in our curriculum. Here are some photos that the students have taken so far. I will be in touch soon and will be sharing things with you throughout the remainder of the school year. We are currently working on professional development for other art teachers in Darke County that focuses on photography and we will also be offering some photography lessons for people in the community that will be held in Union City. I hope you enjoy the shared photography.

Missoula Children's Theatre
The Darke County Endowment for the Arts supports the annual Missoula Children’s Theatre Residency and production. “Thanks to DCEA, students in Darke County are able to experience every aspect of a musical theater production in one week, at no cost to the participants,” shared DCCA Executive Director Andrea Jordan. “We are absolutely thrilled to see the students in our community receive the benefit of their generosity, ensuring the opportunity to learn and grow through the arts.”
The 2019 production of Peter & Wendy was another example of this successful program, which visits St. Clair Memorial Hall each summer. For more information about this production, please visit the DCCA website.
The Tiger Project
The Tiger Project was the brainchild of local Art Teacher, Chrissy Cox. In 2013, Chrissy was a full time Art Teacher at Ansonia Schools and wanted to find a project that would both motivate her students and bring a new level of art appreciation to the town. She accomplished both with the Tiger Project, a full scale installation project featuring five full size tiger sculptures, covered in a wide range of materials.
The installation concept caught our attention in 2013, when Chrissy applied for applied for a DCEA Grant to help fund this amazing demonstration of art, ingenuity and community. We were more than happy to award a DCEA Grant to The Tiger Project and hope to fund other similar projects if proposed in the future.
Greenville Municipal Band
Each Summer, residents of Greenville and the surrounding communities count on the Sunday performance series provided by the Greenville Municipal Band in the Greenville City Park Band Shell.
The Municipal Band has been entertaining the local community in the same location since 1934 and with the help of DCEA, the Sunday performances continue the tradition. The band schedule varies each Summer, check local listings for details.
Anna Bier Gallery
Annual High School Show
Each Spring the Anna Bier Gallery plays host to the Darke County Annual High School Art Show funded in part by DCEA. These funds are distributed to each school to provide financial support toward supplies and visual art education. This exhibit reflects the higher echelon of visual arts created by the young artists in our community. The judging for this exhibit takes place prior to an opening night reception for all exhibitors, families and art enthusiasts in our community. These opportunities encourage students to explore the depths of their own creativity while providing inspiration to others.

Friends of the
Cardinal Center
The Friends of Cardinal Center is a non-profit corporation formed to preserve the old Gettysburg School building and its educational heritage. Each year this organization offers Arts Week where students explore a theme through a variety of art media. This produces amazing results reaffirming the Cardinal Center's purpose to preserve their heritage, build community, and enable success through education and inspiration. DCEA is a proud sponsor of this annual event, which promotes art and culture to the surrounding community.
Professional Exhibition
Grants
Each year DCEA offers both professional and amateur artists the opportunity to apply for a grant to cover expenses related to exhibition preparation, portfolio reviews and or miscellaneous costs as related to the promotion or production of their art. Recipients are asked to document the use of their grant in photos and then submit to DCEA.
The spirit of this grant exemplifies the core principles on which DCEA was established by preserving and promoting the arts within our community.
